Regular readers will know that I recently reported uber-quack Dr. Joseph Obi's company the Royal College of Alternative Medicine to the Irish Office of the Director of Corporate Enforcement for a variety of misdeeds. Here's a quick update.
Dr. Joseph Obi is the doctor who infamously attempted to shut down Quackometer. He runs a company called the Royal College of Alternative Medicine in Ireland which sells dodgy fellowships, and conned the President of Gambia last year. Bloggerheads, Quackometer and The Lay Scientist all spent time investigating the outfit, and found a number of interesting things. A few weeks ago I reported these to the Office of the Director of Corporate Enforcement, which enforces Irish company law.
Well here's an update. Today I received a letter dated March 20th (unfortunately it takes a week or so for snail mail to travel between here and Ireland) from the "Detection Unit". They state that the matter is "receiving attention", and that they will be in touch again (by letter) in due course. In the meantime, I've been given a telephone number for one of their staff who I can call for further information (I'll wait until I get the next letter I think).
So watch this space. It's looking promising so far though, and I can't wait to hear what they have to say in the next letter.
