We critically thinking, rational types are well aware that the reason why homeopathy doesn’t work beyond the placebo effect is because, in all probability, there are bugger all active ingredients in any remedy above 15C. In fact, the scientifically unproven technique of like curing like means that even the remedies below 15C, that might just contain the odd molecule of the original ingredient, are hardly any more likely to work either.
However, to the uninformed majority, homeopathy is often confused with natural herbal remedies. And the fact that you can buy them from you local branch of Boots the Chemist adds an additional air of false credibility. After all we trust Boots to sell us medicines that actually work. Nevertheless, thanks to the Parliamentary Science and Technology committee we now know from the horse’s mouth that Boots sell homeopathic remedies not because there is any evidence that they are efficacious, but simply because they sell.
Perhaps they wouldn’t sell quite so well if more people where aware of what a homeopathic remedy is and how scientifically absurd its underlying principles are.

It seems that you define "double-blind" studies are when you close BOTH of your eyes. There are a lot of high quality studies published in high impact journals that show evidence FOR homeopathy. When, however, the studies lack "external validity," THESE studies "disprove" homeopathy...but because they had no external validity, they are/were worthless: GIGO!

Let's go through the evidence for homeopathy again on a high level.
Evidence for:
a handful of poor quality trials
Evidence "against":
countless trials which have failed to demonstrate that homeopathy is efficacious
meta-analyses of trials that have concluded that homeopathy has no effect given the lack of evidence
analysis of analyses that has again concluded the same thing
Now, given that no-one can explain why homeopathy ever should work, should it not have a strong evidence base to demonstrate that it does work? Yet, after 200 years, there is nothing to demonstrate that homeopathy works beyond placebo.
So, my advice is, go forth, seek evidence or conduct trials yourself. You never know, you might be able to find something, and you might create the first homeopathic "medicine" :)
